Description for the 10 Day Egypt Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo – Old City, Khan El Khalili & El Moez Street – Overnight Stay

Welcome to your first day in Egypt.
You will be greeted at the airport by your English-speaking Egyptologist, holding a sign with your name.
You will receive welcome drinks in the vehicle such as cola and water.
Then you will be transferred in your private air-conditioned luxury vehicle to the hotel.
Your guide will assist you with the check-in and go over your 10-day tour itinerary with you to confirm the pickup times for each tour.
Enjoy your lunch in a local restaurant.
Afterwards, explore Old Cairo, Khan El Khalili Bazaar, and El Moez Street.

In the heart of Islamic Cairo lies Khan El Khalili Bazaar, an old market dating back to the 14th century. Originally established as a stop for caravans, the bazaar evolved into a bustling center of trade and social interaction.
The market is a labyrinth of narrow alleys filled with shops selling everything from traditional crafts like handwoven carpets and intricate metalwork to spices and rare perfumes.
A visit to Khan El Khalili offers an authentic experience of Cairo’s vibrant atmosphere. The sounds of artisans at work blend with the calls of vendors inviting passersby to view their goods.
The scent of freshly ground coffee and spices fills the air, transporting visitors to another time.
Afterward, return to your hotel and overnight stay.

Day 2: Visit to Giza Pyramids, Sphinx & Saqqara – Overnight Stay

After breakfast, your personal tour guide will accompany you to the Giza Plateau to visit the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus, the famous Sphinx, and the Valley Temple opposite the large statue.

The Great Pyramids of Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo, are not only an architectural marvel but also a symbol of the greatness of ancient Egyptian civilization. As the last surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the pyramids have fascinated scholars, tourists, and historians for centuries.
They embody the pinnacle of ancient Egyptian architectural prowess and cultural achievements and continue to inspire awe and admiration.

Lunch will be served in a high-quality restaurant.
Then continue to the Saqqara area to visit the Saqqara Complex and the first pyramid ever built – the Step Pyramid of Djoser.

The Step Pyramid is the centerpiece of a larger mortuary complex built to serve Djoser in the afterlife.
Surrounded by a 10-meter-high limestone wall, the complex includes temples, chapels, and other tombs spread over nearly 16 hectares. Intricate carvings and hieroglyphs provide insight into the religious practices and daily lives of the ancient Egyptians.

At the end of the day, return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Bahariya Oasis – Al Marsous Mountain – Crystal Mountain

Early in the morning around 6:00 AM, your guide will pick you up, and you will start your magical desert journey in a private 4×4 Jeep.
Don’t forget to order your breakfast boxes from the hotel.

Get ready for an adventure through the White Desert, famous for its unique limestone formations.
Camp under the starry sky and experience breathtaking landscapes.
Visit the Crystal Mountain and the Black Desert.
Later, continue to Bahariya Oasis to explore the Valley of the Golden Mummies and the Temple of Alexander the Great.

Overnight desert camping – full board included.

Day 4: White Desert – English Mountain – Return to Cairo

After breakfast in the desert, continue your adventure.
The White Desert stretches over 20 kilometers and is crossed by the road connecting Al-Bahariya and Al-Farafra.
The entrance to this mineral site is marked by the glittering Crystal Mountain.

Millions of years ago, this area was the seabed, and the white rock is the residue of marine microorganisms.
Over time, wind and sand sculpted this terrain into a landscape resembling another planet.
Its chalk and limestone layers give the desert its name and stunning contrast to the golden sands.
At night, especially under the full moon, the desert’s snowy-white scenery appears Arctic-like (many scholars compare it to the Dry Valleys in Antarctica).
The most beautiful views occur at sunrise, sunset, and at night.

Return to Cairo and overnight stay at the hotel.
Your guide will inform you of the pickup time for tomorrow.

Day 5: Saladin Citadel – Alabaster Mosque – Coptic Quarter – Hanging Church – Flight to Luxor – Embarkation

After breakfast, your private Egyptologist will guide you to visit the Saladin Citadel and Alabaster Mosque.

The Citadel of Cairo is a vast complex featuring a mix of military, residential, and religious architecture, showcasing various historical influences.
Built with limestone from surrounding hills, the walls are punctuated by gates and towers that have withstood the test of time.

A highlight is the Muhammad Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, built between 1830 and 1848. Its large central dome and slender minarets are a prime example of Ottoman architecture.
Its alabaster-covered walls give the mosque its distinctive glow, making it one of Cairo’s most photographed landmarks.

Continue to the Coptic Quarter to visit the Hanging Church.
Afterward, transfer with your guide to Cairo Airport for the flight to Luxor.

At Luxor Airport, your German-speaking guide will greet you with a sign.
Transfer to your Nile cruise ship, enjoy dinner on board, and relax.

Your guide will explain the cruise itinerary and inform you of the next day’s schedule.

Day 6: Luxor Temple – Valley of the Kings – Temple of Queen Hatshepsut – Overnight on Board

After breakfast on board, you’ll start your sightseeing tour in Luxor.
Begin with a visit to the Luxor Temple, an ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile in present-day Luxor (ancient Thebes).
This temple, dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship, was likely the site where many Egyptian rulers were crowned.
It reflects both the architectural brilliance and the spiritual beliefs that shaped ancient Egyptian civilization.

Next, continue with your guide to the Valley of the Kings.
Located on Luxor’s West Bank, it is a monumental tribute to the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (16th–11th century BC).
The valley contains 63 known tombs and chambers, offering deep insights into ancient Egypt’s artistic and spiritual achievements.

Afterward, head to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt as a pharaoh.
The temple rises in terraces from the desert floor and blends into the cliffs behind it, creating the impression that nature herself shaped it.

Return to your ship for lunch and enjoy your free time and dinner on board.

Day 7: Edfu Temple – Kom Ombo Temple – Overnight on Board

Sail to Kom Ombo. After breakfast on board, visit the double temple dedicated to the gods Sobek and Horus the Elder.

Then sail to Edfu, have lunch and enjoy afternoon tea while sailing.
Dinner and overnight on board.

The Temple of Edfu is one of the best-preserved shrines in Egypt and is dedicated to the falcon god Horus.
Its construction began in 237 BC under Ptolemy III and was completed in 57 BC under Ptolemy XII.
It stands on the site of an older temple, also dedicated to Horus.

Famous for its size and detailed reliefs, the temple offers invaluable insights into Ptolemaic religion, language, and mythology.
It also includes a birth house (mammisi) decorated with scenes of divine birth.

The Temple of Kom Ombo, about 40 km north of Aswan, was primarily built during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods (332 BC – 395 AD).

Day 8: Philae Temple – High Dam – Unfinished Obelisk – Overnight on Board

After breakfast on board, enjoy Aswan’s top attractions with your guide.
Visit the High Dam, an engineering marvel built in the 1950s under President Nasser to control Nile flooding and generate hydropower.

Next, visit the Temple of Isis at Philae and the Unfinished Obelisk.

Philae Temple, relocated to Agilkia Island, is dedicated to Isis, the goddess of motherhood, magic, and fertility.
The Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan’s northern quarries, offers insights into ancient stoneworking techniques.
Though never completed, it would have been the largest obelisk ever created, weighing 1,168 tons and measuring 42 meters long.

Return to the cruise ship for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Abu Simbel Temples – Flight from Aswan to Cairo

Early in the morning around 3:00 AM, your private guide will pick you up in an air-conditioned private vehicle for a trip to the Abu Simbel Temples (approx. 3 hours each way).

These temples, carved into the cliffs in the 13th century BC, are among the most magnificent monuments in the world.
They commemorate Pharaoh Ramses II and his queen Nefertari, and also showcase the brilliance of ancient and modern engineering (having been relocated to avoid flooding during the construction of the High Dam).

After the visit, transfer to Aswan Airport for your flight back to Cairo.
Your German-speaking guide will assist you until check-in.
Upon arrival in Cairo, you’ll be greeted again with a sign and transferred in a private vehicle to your hotel.
Enjoy welcome drinks in the car and get assistance with check-in.

Your guide will confirm the pickup time for your final day visit to the Egyptian Museum. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 10: Egyptian Museum – Transfer to Cairo Airport

After breakfast, your private Egyptologist will accompany you to Tahrir Square to visit the world-famous Egyptian Museum.

Designed by French architect Marcel Dourgnon, construction began in 1897 and the museum was officially opened in 1902.
It is the world’s largest museum of ancient Egyptian art and houses more than 150,000 artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun.

Enjoy lunch during the tour at a local restaurant.
After the museum visit, your 10-day dream tour ends and you’ll be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight home.
