Home » From Cairo: 7-Day Private Tour Cairo, Bahariya Oasis, and the White Desert
Enjoy a personal 7-day private tour Cairo, Bahariya Oasis, and the White Desert of the sights of Cairo and also the desert adventure.
Visit the Great Pyramids and the 3,000-year-old Sphinx – two of the city’s most famous landmarks – with stories and history from your friendly Egyptologist.
Learn more about Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure – three of the best-known pyramids of Giza – and enter one of them (extra fee) to explore it on your own, since guided tours inside are not allowed. After admiring the ancient wonders, head to the nearby plateau, where you can capture the towering pyramids rising from the golden sands with the city skyline as a backdrop.
From there, continue to the Valley Temple of the Pyramids and the iconic Sphinx, perhaps the most enigmatic symbol of Egypt. Your guide will explain the legend of this giant lion with the head of a king while you observe it up close.
Most visitors to the Farafra Oasis come to see the White Desert (el-Sahara el-Beida), the area northeast of Qasr el-Farafra, famous for its spectacular landscapes. The chalk-white terrain is scattered with strange formations, bright white boulders rising from the desert floor, which intensify in the clear midday light, glow golden at sunset, or appear darkened under cloudy skies.
Many formations have descriptive names – shaped by the harsh desert winds into bizarre forms that constantly change over time. There are “Monoliths” and “Mushrooms,” “Ice Cream Cones,” “Tents,” and “Grasshoppers,” as well as the majestic, cone-shaped, flat “inselbergs,” to name just a few.
