Egypt is gaining increasing importance on the European travel market. More and more travellers are discovering the country not only as a beach destination on the Red Sea, but also for cultural trips, Nile cruises and diverse tours. Despite tensions in parts of the region, Egypt remains an attractive and highly sought-after destination that is continuously expanding its tourism connections with Europe.
A further sign of this positive development is the new direct connection between Stockholm and Cairo. From 18 December 2026, EgyptAir will connect Stockholm-Arlanda to the Egyptian capital four times a week with a direct flight. The flights will operate year-round.
For travellers, the new connection opens particularly interesting possibilities: a journey can begin directly in Cairo with the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum, and then continue as a tour to Luxor and Aswan.
Particularly popular is the combination with a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan. Temples, royal tombs and millennia-old history can be comfortably combined with the special experience of travelling on the Nile. Those who wish to relax afterwards can round off their Egypt trip with a few days on the Red Sea.
The new flight connection thus not only strengthens Egypt's connectivity with northern Europe, but also makes combined tours, Nile cruises and individual Egypt trips even more attractive for European visitors.
