Description for Half Day Tour to Dendera
We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning at 6:00 and drive for approx. 220 km towards Dendera. (Another route from Marsa Alam).
The Dendera temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor, the goddess of joy, beauty, maternal qualities and love. In the days of Greece and the Ptolemies, Hathor was equated with Aphrodite, and among the Romans – with Vernus.
In the temple you will visit the Holy Lake (Ancient Egypt), the Ruins of the Sanatorium, the Birth House (Mammisi) and the Sculptures with Cleopatra and her son Nero Caesar. Your guide will also show you beautiful astronomical images on the ceiling and mysterious reliefs in the crypt of the temple.
The famous wall relief depicting Cleopatra VII and her son, whose father was Julius Caesar, provides a breathtaking view of the meeting of great civilizations. Other images of Roman emperors make this a sign of antiquity.
